Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the football scholarship of his family and service in the local community. Selmon is the youngest of children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Semon. They raised him on their farm in Eufala. In football, he was with three of his brothers for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-American teams. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for a single season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman in the nation. For three seasons as a starter Oklahoma recorded a record of 32-1-1 and won two national championships. He was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was awarded the title of an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon graduated with a qualification in the field of education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in college. After college he settled in Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers were all-pro three times and started a business career. In 1988 he was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no surprise that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the United States' top 10 young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds at the time was playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he commanded the team. In 1993, he joined his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. In 1988 the year he was a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He and his parents Lucious and Mary Selmon. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
